Excerpt: Senior club appearances and goalscounted for the domestic league only.* Appearances (Goals) Gordon Bradley (November 23, 1933 April 29, 2008) was an English-American football (soccer) midfielder born and raised on Wearside who played several seasons with lower division English clubs before moving to play in Canada at the age of 30. During the Canadian off-season, he played and coached in the U.S. based German American Soccer League. In 1971, he became a player and head coach for the New York Cosmos. In addition to coaching the Cosmos, he has coached the U.S. national team and at the collegiate and high school levels. Bradley also earned one cap with the U.S. national team in 1973. He is a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame. He spent his last years out of the public eye, suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and spending his last month in a full-care facility in Manassas, Va. Bradley grew up in Sunderland, England where he turned professional with the local Sunderland club at age sixteen. However, his career nearly ended just as it was beginning. During a training session, he shattered his right kneecap kicking a ball and it took over two years before he was fit to play again. In 1950, English conscription laws forced Bradley to choose between working in the government coal mines or entering the military when he turned nineteen. Bradley chose to work in the coal mines at Easington Colliery. In addition to working in the mine, Bradley continued to play football. While he began his career as a forward with Sunderland, the injury slowed Bradley and he moved into defense. Bradley signed with Bradford Park Avenue in 1955 then in 1957, he moved to Carlisle United where he eventually played 130 games, scoring 3 goals. In 1963, Bradley receive… More:

In 2000, Gibbs led Brown to an Ivy League championship and the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. He was named Ivy League Player of the Year, and a First-Team All-American. In 2000, he spent the collegiate off season with the Palm Beach Pumas of the Premier Development League. He was also one of three Brown soccer players, including Matthew Cross (Kansas City Wizards) and Scott Powers (Columbus Crew), to be drafted in the 2001 MLS SuperDraft. After graduating from Brown in 2001, Gibbs decided not to play in MLS and joined FC St. Pauli of the Bundesliga. He played 25 games for St. Pauli that season, becoming the youngest American to score a goal in the Bundesliga with a goal against FC Cologne. St. Pauli was relegated to the 2. Fußball-Bundesliga after the 200102 season, and Gibbs played an equally important role with the team in his second season as in his first. St. Pauli, however, was relegated again after the 2002-03 season, this time to the Regionalliga Nord, the German third division. Gibbs remained with the team, being moved from central defense to defensive midfielder. Gibbs decided to leave St. Pauli during 2003 due to the low level of play and lack of exposure needed to secure a spot on the United States national team. After a move to Jahn Regensburg of the 2. Excerpt: Qemal Stafa is a the largest soccer stadium in Tirana, Albania, named after Qemal Stafa, a World War II hero. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium has 19,600 seats . The stadium was built as an Olympic Stadium by Gerardo Bozio, a young fascist architect from Florence, Italy who projected it with a capacity of 15,000 places. Tirana at that time (30s) had less than 60,000 inhabitants so the stadium would be more than sufficient. The stadium was projected with an ellyptical form and it would have been completely encircled of marble, had the initial project eventually prevailed. Galeazzo Ciano symbolically put the first stone in August 1939. Construction lasted four years and work was interrupted in 1943 after the Capitulation of Italy. During the German invasion of Albania the stadium was used as a parking for German equipment. After WWII 400 workers and 150 daily volunteers finished construction of the stadium, which was not exactly what Bozio had in mind: the marble was only on one stand. Right after the end of work the Albania national football team played in the stadium for the first time on 7 October 1946 when the Balkan Cup was organized. The Cup was won by Albania that left behind Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Romania in that competition. The stadium was named after Qemal Stafa, a Hero of Albania of WWII. Middlesbrough insisted they had received offers in excess of £8m for Ziege, but were forced contractually to allow Ziege to talk to Liverpool, who then signed him. He made his debut for Liverpool in a 3-2 home win over Manchester City on 9 September, 2000, replacing Steven Gerrard in the second half. Although the Anfield crowd saw flashes of Ziege’s brilliance down the left flank during the season, a combination of knee injuries and the improving form of Jamie Carragher, meant he was transferred to Tottenham Hotspur after one year and 32 appearances in all competitions.
